How did you get started in professional make-up artistry?
I have always done make-up for family and friends, but professionally…While working in salons as a hair stylist I would also work in the make-up room whenever possible, my clients loved their looks and were quite encouraging. I truly always wanted to do make-up full time, so in 2004 I started Champagne & Lipstick LLC and have since taken professional classes from three gracious educators out of New York, and learned much from other professionals here locally and away. Champagne & Lipstick LLC as created to cater to brides and bridal parties on their Big Day! A bride’s wedding day is the one day in her life she wants to look and feel her most beautiful!
What is your specialty?
My specialty is bridal beauty. My goal is to bring a fresh approach to each individual make-up style to achieve a polished look that will compliment the brides unique beauty and personality. My brides tell me I make them look beautiful and flawless, but they still look like themselves. I want them to feel comfortable in the make-up I apply AND look amazing!
Career wise, what would you be doing if you were not in make-up artistry?
Anything else would be “just a job”. Now I feel so blessed to be doing what I always dreamed of doing as a career! Glorious make-up – too fun!!
What is something few people know about you?
I am a bit shy, but I hide it well. Always pushing through it to make others feel comfortable, then I don’t feel shy anymore.
What is your favorite beauty/make-up tip?
Honestly my best make-up tip is to hire a professional make-up artist for your wedding day, and I can give you several good reasons why…
You want your make-up to be as polished and beautiful as your gown and your hair. It is a complete look.
You want the make-up to last all day an into the night.
You want to look and feel your best all day, AND for that beauty to come through in your photographs!
What is one piece of advice you would offer to couples?
Along with other professionals, do hire April as your wedding planner to handle the details, so that on your wedding day you can plan to relax and truly enjoy the day, it is Your Day after all!!
