DIY Silhouette Cake Toppers

Simply Silhouettes is a custom décor, accessories and paper goods store, creating decorative silhouettes for every occasion.

Silhouette cake toppers are a beatiful touch to any cake and are easily made. Here are a few ways to create your own silhouette cake toppers.

Create a silhouette from a picture 

What you need:

-Digital or film camera

-Scissors

-Black paper

-Adhesive of choice

-Toothpicks or Popsicle sticks

Take a photo of the subject in profile, allowing for the desired size. Once the photo is printed, carefully cut around the edges of the profile, making adjustments as needed. Then, trace the image onto black paper. Cut out the remaining silhouette.

Full-body silhouettes can be hand-drawn or traced from any image, making the possibilities endless. For inspiration,  Esty artist Amadalbel creates and sells full-body silhouette portraits that can be used on cakes.

Once you have your silhouette, they can be either be placed into the cake using toothpicks or Popsicle sticks. A second option is to glue the silhouette onto decorative paper for  a more colorful effect.
